Sufjan cameo on new National album
Pitchfork: Sufjan Stevens played on the last album. Do you have any guests on this one?
Matt Berninger: We have a bunch of people who have come in and out of the studio, which is behind Aaron's house. It was sort of an open door policy; friends come over and do stuff. So a lot of people did do things. I don't know exactly how much of everything we're going to keep. I will say that Sufjan did something that we are going to keep on a song. He sang some weird little backing vocal melodies-- no words. It was on a song that had just the right sort of odd, creepy vibe. There are a few other people that have come in and out. I don't want to say who yet [laughs] because we still might be editing them out. But I'm pretty sure that the little Sufjan vocal thing is going to be in there. It really did something special with that song.

Crooked River trailer →
“In this emotionally gripping road movie, documentary filmmaker Kaleo LaBelle accompanies his childhood friends Marzuki and Sufjan Stevens on a journey back to their home state of Michigan, revisiting blighted landscapes, distant family members and old wounds that never really heal.”
Unfortunately, this documentary will probably never see the light of day due to family privacy...

NY Mag (2004): What was the last hit song you actually liked?
Sufjan: Some of the stuff on Justin Timberlake’s album [Justified] was sort of outstanding. He’s got an interesting voice. And his album borrows a lot from Michael Jackson and Prince.

A Sufjan Stevens Missed Connection.
indierawk:
Check it out here.
Dear Sufjan Stevens, This may sound really strange to you because you don’t know who I am and for all intents and purposes, I don’t really know who you are either. But I’m totally smitten with you! You’re an absolute dreamboat, and you get me all shaky in the knees, and googly-eyed, and make my heart go all thumpity-thump-thump. Also, you seem kind of unassuming...

Daniel Smith: What do you think you're going to be doing when you're 60?
Sufjan Stevens: I don't think I'm going to live till 60.
Daniel: Oh that's nonsense. Why? All your bad habits?
Sufjan: (nods)
Daniel: (laughs)
Sufjan: I have bad habits!
Daniel: Like what?
Sufjan: I slouch..
